    How to light your dining table and kitchen island

    Get the height right

    Hang pendants 30–34" above your dining table or kitchen island. With ceilings higher than 8 feet, add about 3" for every extra foot.

    Choose the right size

    As a rule of thumb, a pendant should be about one-third the width of your table. For a long table or island, a linear fixture fills the space beautifully.

    Group for impact

    Above a kitchen island, two or three pendants in a row look best. Space them 24–30" apart and keep at least 6" from the ends of the island.
